Useful information

We know the top three reasons why students stay on their course to finish the programme are:

  1. The end goal
  2. The personal ambition to be in their chosen profession
  3. Support from family and friends

At the same time, we  recognise that students can consider leaving the course altogether - with the top reasons being finance, wellbeing, and academic or practice learning concerns. So here, you will find information that addresses those common concerns to increase your confidence in returning:

If you are ambivalent/unsure about returning

Whatever your reason for taking a pause or break in your learning, you may have times when you are unsure whether to return, or doubt your ability to succeed. If this is you, the following self-assessment questions may help:

1. On a scale of 0-10, where 0 is "not at all important" and 10 is "very important", how important is it for you to complete your programme? Why are you at a [number] and not a lower number? What would it take for you to go up one number? What number would you need to be at in order to return (this may not need to be a "10")?

2. On a scale of 0-10, where 0 is "not at all confident" and 10 is "very confident", how confident do you feel that you could return if you decided to? Why are you at a [number] and not a lower number? What might help you to go up one number? What number would you need to be at in order to return (this may not need to be a "10")?
